Research on the Employability of Students Graduated from the Law Degree at the Universidad Polytechnic GranColombiano between the years 2022 and 2024.

Abstract

Studying the employability factor in law graduates in recent years is relevant to the field of study of the professional development of people who opted for the Politécnico Grancolombiano University as the university of academic training and the job opportunities they can access in the labor market thanks to the training provided by it. Thus, the objective of this research focused mainly on the employability of law graduates from the Politécnico Grancolombiano University during the years 2022- 2024. In this sense, we proceeded methodologically by identifying the internship opportunities offered by the university through agreements with public and private entities, in the same way, it was explored whether the labor market is oversaturated with lawyers or if on the contrary there is a shortage of lawyers in Colombia, and finally, it was determined to know the personal experience of some graduates through interviews to find out how it was to enter the first job as lawyers.
As a result of the study, a series of agreements were found between the Grancolombiano Polytechnic University and different entities such as the Attorney General's Office and the Prosecutor's Office, focused on the employability of students in the public sector. Likewise, it was identified that, although the law degree is one of the degrees where the most students graduate from the different universities in Colombia with an average of 30,000 law graduates per year, demonstrating the complex employment situation faced by lawyers in Colombia, in the face of this, the Polytechnic's graduate office joins forces with various employment agencies to guarantee a first job for recent graduates.
