Resumen
Objetivo: analizar las actitudes socioculturales hacia la apariencia y el riesgo de trastorno de la conducta alimentaria en un grupo de mujeres que van al gimnasio; Material y métodos: se realizó un estudio observacional cuantitativo correlacional de corte transversal en el que se incluyeron 320 mujeres que asistían a gimnasios donde realizaban diferentes modalidades de entrenamiento quienes respondieron el Cuestionario de Actitudes Socioculturales sobre la Apariencia (SATAQ-4) y el Test de Actitudes Alimentarias (EAT). Resultados: las mujeres con riesgo de trastorno de la conducta alimentaria mostraron diferencias en las actitudes socioculturales hacia la apariencia y se encontraron algunas correlaciones entre las dimensiones del riesgo y las actitudes; Discusión: las actitudes sociales que validan los modelos corporales centrados en la delgadez impulsan el desarrollo de pensamientos obsesivos centrados en el control del peso y en el miedo a engordar; Conclusiones: la internalización de los modelos sociales de belleza incrementa el riesgo de desarrollar un trastorno de la conducta alimentaria.
