Resumen
El objetivo de este artículo es realizar una revisión teórico-metodológica sobre los procesos de identificación con los personajes mediáticos de ficción. Tratamos de considerar hasta qué punto este fenómeno es clave para entender la construcción de identidades. Además cuestionaremos si existen diferencias entre la identificación con personajes en la recepción, y en la participación virtual. La tesis que aquí se sostiene es la siguiente: las identificaciones que los sujetos realizan en la recepción mediática y en la participación virtual desempeñan un papel fundamental en la construcción de la identidad, la personalidad y las expectativas psicosociales de los sujetos. Sin embargo, mientras que en la recepción la identificación se trata de un proceso interno, en la participación virtual se trata de un proceso externo de carácter proyectivo.
